An unexpected happy turn of events!

It seems fitting on our anniversary that I share some happy news - we are pregnant with our third little Johnson! This was an unexpected turn of events, but we are thrilled with the news! All signs currently indicate a healthy little Johnson will join us in February! We've shared the news with immediate family and with our girls. The girls are excited and eager for the baby to come. Kenna asked me this morning if the baby was here yet. It may be a long time for her to wait until February!

I have learned throughout this process that it isn't about my plan and my timing, but about God's. We had said that if it was meant to be, it would happen. Apparently, the adoption was not part of a bigger plan. There is a piece of me that is sad that it didn't work out right now. However, we haven't closed this chapter of our life. Our current plan is to see what life is like with 3 children. If we can handle 4, and I think we could, we would like to come back later and adopt an older child. We have learned that there just aren't a lot of little ones that are up for adoption; the need is for families who will take an older child. We went into the adoption process because we wanted to help. It has become clear to us that the best way to help is to provide an older child a family and a home. So perhaps when the girls are teenagers themselves, we'll be able to re-open this chapter of our life and add yet another child to the Johnson clan.

We can't thank you enough for your encouragement and support throughout this process. We will continue to ask for prayers for children in foster care. They are special little people who need a family just like the rest of us.

Thanks again!

Great day @ a matching event

Steve and I went to another matching event today and had a great time! It was on Lake Norman and the kids who were there were taught how to water ski, knee board and go tubing. I even jumped on the tube at the end of the afternoon! :) We were reminded yet again that all of these children are awesome and they deserve a loving family to call their own. If only we could take them all home!

Our goal today was to meet the kids, have fun with them, and network with social workers. We definitely had fun with the kids! We also talked to a few social workers but we also met up with a family who we went through the parenting class with last spring. In talking to them, we found that they had hit the same bumps in the road that we had. It was nice to network with another family who is in a similar boat.

We can't say enough about the group "In His Wake." They taught the kids how to ski/board/tube. Their message was to trust that God has a plan for each of us. Even though it was a bit preachy for Steve and I, the message was good and I hope gave the kids a reminder that they are loved and that there is a plan for them.

We are thankful for Auntie Erin and Uncle John who watched the girls in Pinehurst today. They were sleepy little things when we got home today! :)

Keep your fingers crossed that if this is meant to be, the right little guy will be sent to us.

Meeting with our Social Worker

We met with Tiffany and had a great meeting. Our meeting today was to make sure that we are on track and that everything we need is in place. Tiffany reassured us that it is just a matter of time and finding the right kiddo. Because we have two small children, placing another child with us is more difficult. All in God's time, we'll have a 3rd child. Thanks for following along! :)

Things are quiet

I haven't posted lately because there isn't much to update anyone on. Things are quiet - not a lot of profiles coming our way lately. We ask for your prayers that if this is meant to be, it will happen. We feel strongly that we've been called to this but we're just not sure why yet!

Thanks for following us - I promise you'll read it here if there is news!

We're still in a waiting phase. All in God's time!

Thanks for following along friends! We have truly appreciated all of your support over the past few weeks! It is encouraging and exciting!

I had mentioned a 3 year old previously and it looks like he wasn't meant to be with our family. There were meetings set up today for families the child's social worker was interested in. Since we didn't get an invite, I'll take it as a sign that it wasn't meant to be. We are not sad about it because we know what is meant to be, will be!

There are a few kiddos that we are still waiting for info on. We'll keep you posted!

Raleigh Matching Event

Today we went to a matching event in Raleigh. We had a great time yet again! We were reminded yet again that all kids just want love and respect. Kids are kids, no matter what the circumstance. The kids were awesome and fun to play with. Overall, we'd call today a success!

We asked for a few more profiles plus there is a 3 year old boy whom we are waiting on more information about. Things are moving along and we'll continue to keep you posted.
